Coffee Banana Smoothie

My every morning consists of getting out of bed and getting my morning coffee going. I do not get much done first thing in the a.m. because all that is on my mind is that first sip of coffee.

If you are like me and your breakfast usually includes coffee and a banana, it’s time to start thinking about combining them into this delicious and satisfying smoothie recipe.

This banana coffee smoothie recipe is ready in 5 minutes and will get you going in the morning.

If you are short on time in the morning, no worries. This smoothie can be prepped the night before and then just grab and go in the morning.

Want to stock up for future mornings? Make a freezer pack and then throw them in your blender at the very last minute for easy peasy coffee smoothies!

This recipe makes 2 servings!

Ingredients

  • 2 very ripe bananas, cut into chunks and frozen
  • 4 ounces coffee, cooled
  • 1/2 cup Greek-style yogurt
  • 6 ounces milk
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional)

Instructions

Combine all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth and frothy—adding more milk if necessary—about one minute. Taste and blend in the honey if you’d like the drink to be sweeter. Divide between two glasses and serve.

Can top with whipped topping if you like and a sprinkling of ground coffee for more coffee flavour.

To make the banana coffee smoothie as a freezer pack:

  • 1 tablespoon ground coffee un-brewed
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 6 ounces of milk
  • 4 ounces brewed coffee, chilled
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • Raw honey, as needed, for sweetness

Add the ground coffee to the bottom of a small freezer bag, followed by banana, and vanilla extract.

Press the air out of the bag and seal tightly, then place it in the freezer.

When ready to blend, add the milk and chilled coffee to a blender, followed by the frozen contents from the freezer pack and blend until smooth. Sweeten with honey to taste.
