Garage coffee is a beautiful speciality coffee shop in the heart of Canterbury, serving a wide range of coffee, teas, and cakes. In fact, Garage Coffee has something for everyone.
How It All Started
In 2015, Luke Underwood founded Garage Coffee — a speciality coffee roaster based in the beautiful village of Hoath, just outside of Canterbury, Kent.
Luke identified a gap in the market to bring great coffee to the people of Kent and started trading at local markets and events to build the Garage brand.
By 2016, Garage Coffee had gained a significant following and started to supply some wonderful hospitality businesses across the county.
In 2017, Garage Coffee opened its flagship shop and training room in the heart of Canterbury, just off the high street and now has a small team making great coffee and sharing the same vision!
The Ethics Behind Garage Coffee
Garage Coffee visits some of the best farms around the world, to create their single origin coffees. They always look to get coffees in that really showcase where they are from, whether it be a chocolate Brazil or fruity Ethiopian.
These beans are ethically sourced and Luke and his team like to make sure that whatever country the beans are from, they are roasted with integrity to bring out the best flavours.
Garage Coffee roasts in small 3kg batches for optimum quality, and only roast speciality grade coffees which are always fully traceable and fairly traded.
Since the launch of Garage Coffee, they have been building relationships with farmers, and sourcing coffee from the same farms season after season, with plans to make trips to these farmers in the near future!
What You Will Find Inside at Garage Coffee
Their roastery is situated on a campsite in Hoath and Luke had plans to convert a garage on site into a wonderful roasting labyrinth – however, it was just a little too close to the campers!
So, he decided to source a shipping container and convert into a roastery! As ‘Shipping Container Coffee’ didn’t quite have the same ring – he decided to stick with ‘Garage Coffee’, and the rest is history!
When you visit Garage Coffee, you will find them serving up their house blend, single origins, and decaf as espresso and through the brew bar.
They are also showcasing some fantastic local producers from bakers to tea makers, giving you the experience to remember.
To learn more about Garage Coffee, be sure and visit their website. You can also follow along with them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to keep up with all the new blends they will be creating over the year.
